So thrilled my story helped inspire your new one and I REALLY enjoyed the snippet your shared. That waking from a dream and wanting to crawl back into it feeling is one I know well. Keep going!!!
As for your stale bread ... may I suggest CROUTONS!!! I make sourdough bread a lot and the back half always gets a little crusty after a few days. I dice it up, toss it will olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder and some dry Italian seasoning and bake it until it's toasted. Once they're cooled, I put them in a Ziplock bag and we'll use them up over the course of a few salads (my kids LOVE Caesar salad, so it works out well). You can freeze them too, and just pull out the bag when you run out of croutons! ๐
Excellent idea! I made Swedish meatballs a few days ago and used some for "soft" breadcrumbs and bagged the rest (I grate it on the largest holes for soft breadcrumbs). My kid and I love croutons too plus I use dry breadcrumbs frequently so I have more options than I realized.
Great issue!!
